Coe is a self serving cunt. Anything that he is involved with will result in him leaving in a better state than he entered in.
One grade A, obnoxious bastard.

Re: Seb Coe
Coe is an incompetent who has been elevated way above his station. If it'sproved that he's corrupt too - and there isn;t conclusive evidence of that yet - he should be stripped of his honours.

Everybody talks about the London Olympics like some kind of triumph. Well they were a triumph - but not because of Coe. he made a mess of everything he touched.

What made the Games great was the medal haul of the British athletes, which had nothing whatsoever to do with Coe.

Where to start with his litany of failures? First, the cost: he started off by telling us the Games would cost £2.4bn. In the end the cost was closer to £10bn.

He was responsible for promising the IOC that the main stadium would keep its running track after the Games, a stupid and unnecessary mistake that cost a fortune to deliver when it became obvious that sole use as an athletics stadium would make it a white elephant.

He employed G4S to manage security and failed to monitor them. 4 weeks before the Games it suddenly became obvious there were not enough security staff. The Army had to be drafted in to cover them.

The tickets website crashed on the first day. In the end the seat allocation gave so many A seats to disinterested sponsors we ended up with rows of empty seats at the main events (this was actually the main story on the news on Day 2 of the Games before the medals started to pour in).

The Torch relay was a fiasco, stuffed with self-serving celebrities and watched by almost nobody. It was so forgettable nobody even mentions it. In the 1996 Relay the Relay was almost bigger than the Games themselves. It has been known since then how to stage a magnificent Relay but Coe ignored all the advice given to him.

The awful Games logo cost £400,000 and was so hideous that nobody bought any Olympic Games merchandise. Instead everybody wore Team GB stuff, which had been beautifully designed. Revenues from merchandise were the lowest of any Games in recent times.

The swimming centre was built with no thought to future use. The ceiling is too high and it can't be heated cost effectively. It will need state subsidies forever, until it closes.

Coe was a bungling, inexperienced halfwit of a CEO who stumbled from one crisis to another in his role as organiser of the Games. Had Team GB not won all those medals he would have been slaughtered afterwards.

While Coe represents UK athletics, UK athletics do not represent MY nation.

I want him much further than an industrial barge-pole away from any organisation claiming to be in MY nation's name.

Re: Seb Coe
Like the guy but it's a pretty serious error of judgment to have called Diack his spiritual president and probably grounds for him to have to resign. If you're claiming to be that clueless about the level of corruption you're either too stupid to do the job or you were clearly complicit.

Coe will survive, not because he is clean, it's because there is nobody cleaner to take over

I do not think Coe is a wrongun, the thing is you go into these things blind and accepting of dodgy things happening. Big money Sport is not run like a nice neat council and never has been, Coe was hardly going to be Superman coming in to save the day was he.

Cram did not win the championship medals of Coe but his battles with Said Aouita and his mile record breaking performances are a fond childhood memory for me. As a keen runner as a kid he was one of my heroes. As said below a nice bloke with it too.

Re: Seb Coe
It's been blindingly obvious for years that organisations like FIFA and IOC are inherently corrupt. With each member country carrying a vote what better way to stay in power than to cultivate the representatives of minor nations.

The leading nations need to grow some and, especially in the case of FIFA, hold a moratorium on the holding of future tournaments. There is such a bad smell around Qatar 2022 for example that it needs Eufa nations to collectively say we're not playing.

I think everyone at FIFA had some idea what Blatter was doing you’d be hard pushed not to, doesn’t mean they are all dirty and need to leave. It’s the same with Coe

So Coe never had any suspicions Diack and his sons were up to no good? Hmmm. The very fact his sons were on board stinks. If it walks like a duck...

Very good point. Look at the Jimmy Saville enquiry. There were probably (allegedly)hundreds of people within the BBC who had their suspicions about him but had no proof but do you blame each and everyone of them for him getting away with it?

It's possible that Coe and others may have had their suspicions but I suspect if he had openly declared his suspicions then he may never have got the opportunity to become IAAF President.

There is a major difference between Coe and Blatter. Coe hasn't been President for all these years whilst Blatter was and Coe admits there have been major failings within the organisation. Blatter never admitted anything was wrong within FIFA.

I suspect Coe needs to be given a chance to clean up athletics, there aren't too many other candidates that fit the bill.

I think Coe is a too clever person to end up with any shit at his door.

I'm undecided if he actually is whiter than white, but if he isn't, he won't get caught out like Blatter and Platini have.

Yes, he came in to compete with them towards the end of their careers. He wasn't quite as good as them and only really shone when they had retired. But, as you say, more endearing than them two cunts.

Cram was a little later in his career but yes he seemed like a better person than Coe or Ovett.

I preferred Cram out of all three of them.
